No threat to UPA Government: Congress

There was no threat to the Congress-led UPA Government at Centre on Indo-US N-deal, a senior Congress leader said.

There was no threat to the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre on Indo-US nuclear deal and some acceptable solution will be worked out addressing the Left parties concern, a senior Congress leader said.

Nuclear deal is in the interest of the country and necessary for addressing the issue of energy security, Ahmed Patel, political secretary to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, told reporters.

Patel, who was speaking after the foundation stone laying ceremony for the conversion of narrow gauge line into broad gauge between Ankleshwar-Rajpipla and Bharuch-Sami- Dahej, said there were many factors responsible for inflation soaring to 11.42 per cent and government is taking steps to contain it.

On the issue of tax collection from Gujarat, he said

Chief Minister Narendra Modi is trying to divide the country on regional grounds.

Patel, also an MP, said Centre’s assistance to the state is much more than what it was during previous BJP-led NDA government.
