CHANDIGARH, April 27: For school students without plans for summer holidays, life will not be so boring. Nehru Bal Bhawan and Hansraj Public School, Panchkula, are organising theatre workshops, even camps, during the summer vacations.

The kids can enact scenes from mythology or indulge in making masks, based on mythological characters. The kids can also learn the craft of making toys.

The summer school being held at Hans Raj Public School is offering personality development course from May 24. Based on the concept of finishing schools, girls between 12 to 15 years of age will be groomed in etiquettes. They will be taught things like ordering food in a restaurant or how to lay the dinning table.

Says Taru Bahl, the coordinator of the workshop, "Every lesson will have a practical session too. The girls will be taken to a restaurant and taught table manners."

The adventure club will have kids between 7 and 15 years of age going up to the hills for a trek. They will also be coached to pitch up tents and cook and present bar-be-cue food.

The summer school at Nehru Sewa Bhawan run by Durga Das Foundation will have a theatre workshop conducted by Lushin Dubey and Bubbles Sabharwal. The unique thing about the workshop, starting May 24, is that it will culminate with a Jungle Book Se Aagee production, says Atul Khanna, the director of Nehru Sewa Bhawan. The play will be staged in Tagore Theatre on June 12 and 13.
