In response to a news item of Press Trust of India titled “IDBI rejects offer to restart DPC plant”, carried in The Indian Express, edition dated September 2, 2002, IDBI has stated that it has not received any proposal from GE/Bechtel for maintenance, completion or restart of the DPC plant. Further, IDBI has clarified that the Indian financial institutions were not invited in the reported meeting in Singapore. IDBI has also stated that it believes that an immediate restart of Phase 1 of the project is in the interest of all the stakeholders and hence the FIs are presently in discussion on the issue with both the Government of Maharashtra and the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB).Hence, IDBI has clarified that the news report is unfounded and without any basis whatsoever.
