Main accused in Raebareli Dalit man lynching case arrested after police encounter
The accused had been absconding since the incident, carried a reward of Rs 25,000, say police
During a candle march to protest against the death of a Dalit man, Hariom Valmiki, in Raebareli district, at Hazratganj in Lucknow on Tuesday (ANI File) The main accused in the case of lynching of a Dalit man in Raebareli was arrested following an encounter on Friday, police said.
The accused, Deepak Agrahari, a resident of Majra Pachkhara village, had been absconding since the incident and carried a reward of Rs 25,000.
On October 2, Hariom (38), was lynched to death by a mob at Dandepur Jamunapur village in the district after he was allegedly mistaken for a committing thefts with the help of a drone.
Hariom, who was reportedly on his way to Amiliya ka Purva village where his estranged wife and daughter live at his in-laws’ house, was slapped, kicked, stripped, beaten with belts and canes and taken from one place to another as the mob of about a hundred asked him to lead them to his alleged accomplice.
