Srinagar, May 17: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah has said that moves for holding talks with Hurriyat leaders were for achieving lasting peace in the state but asserted there was no question of Kashmir going out of India.
"Though talks would be held for lasting peace in the state, nobody should day-dream of so-called azadi (freedom) or Kashmir becoming Pakistan", he said addressing a convention organised by All Jammu and Kashmir Artisans Federation here yesterday.
He said all Hurriyat leaders released in phases have been provided security and it was for them to see the miseries of militancy inflicted on the people.
Farooq Abdullah said even after the talks, his party will continue to be the true representative of the people of the state.
Reiterating that the fight with the Centre for grant of autonomy would continue, he said "autonomy within the Constitution is necessary for fulfilling the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir".
