
YEREVAN ARMENIA, SEPT 30: After a series of spectacular rounds, India8217;s International Women Master Nisha Mohota failed to sustain the pressure of playing on the top boards and lost to Jana Jackova of the Czech Republic in the 12th round of World Junior Chess Championships here today.
In Queens Gambit Accepted Variation, Mohota 7 played an uncharacteristic ninth move e4 and got into an minus position. Jackova 8 did not allow any tactical chances to Mohota and played correctly to win the game in 34 moves.
Mohota now has to win her last round to figure in the top six positions.
On the other hand, India8217;s junior National champion sundararajan Kidambi 6, after a few poor rounds, earned full point when he beat Aimen Rizouk 5 of Algeria.
In the Alpine Variation of Sicilian Defence, Kidambi got a better pawn structure against isolated d8217; pawn of Rizouk. He won two pawn in the late middle game and the contest went for a queen and rook ending.
Kidambi had to move his King all over the board to savehimself from the check threat from Rizouk. He also went near the opponent8217;s King before winning the game on 49th move.
Meanwhile, Alexander Gatkin 9.5 of Russia and Maria Kouvetsou 8.5 of Greece, with half point lead over their nearest rivals, have placed themselves on a handy position for the boys and girls titles.
