CHANDIGARH, Nov 17: The Indian Council for Cultural Relations today brought a Nigerian dance troop from the Lagos State Council for Art and Culture who performed a colourful dance at PGI's Bhargava Auditorium here.The songs and dances performed by this 23-member dance troop depicted the culture of Yoruba community of Nigeria. The programme started with dance sequence "Ijuba". Another dance "Ekospecial", featured masquerades dressed in black and white. The dance is performed on marriages and festivals. The fluid body movements of the dancers accompanied by flute represented Nyoke, the moonlight dance.The drums of the orchestra were coloured in green, white and green, the colour of the Nigerian national flag. The drummers showed their skill to the hilt and soon, the Nigerian audience were found singing to the beat. The dance troop has already performed in Delhi and Hardwar and after this they will perform at the Kartik festival being held at Faridabad.
