NH8 traffic to be restricted over next two months

VADODARA, May 3: National Highway No 8 around Bharuch will be closed to heavy vehicles for 12 hours on three days in the next two months and open one-way for 13 days in the current month. According to a release, the changes have been effected because of repairs being carried out by the national highway authorities.

Traffic on the Sardar Bridge on NH No 8 near Bharuch will be closed on May 16, 23 and June 5 between 8 am and 8 pm .

Likewise, on May 5, 7, 9, 12, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27 and the 30, the traffic will be allowed one way. This new arrangement will allow vehicles from Mumbai/Surat to come towards Bharuch, while all light vehicles from the direction of Ahmedabad will be allowed to cross Sardar Bridge/ Golden Bridge towards Ankleshwar. No heavy vehicles except State Transport and private passenger buses will be allowed towards Ankleshwar.

Heavy vehicles coming from Ahmedabad towards Bharuch/Surat will be diverted from the Vadodara bypass through Kapurai Chokdi, Dabhoi, Tilakwada, Rajpipla, Rajpardi, Jhagadia and Ankleshwar.

According to the release, on the above-mentioned dates, heavy vehicles coming from Bagodara, Tarapur, Borsad would be diverted towards Vasad at Borsad-Bhadaran four-roads and heavy vehicles coming from Modasa, Dahod, Godhra would be diverted towards Halol, Pavagadh, Bodeli and Rajpipla. All vehicles from Vadodara would be diverted at Makarpura and Zambua to Bharuch towards Kapurai Chokdi, Dabhoi side.
