THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL, 11: Speaking at a cabinet meeting held here, Kerala Chief Minister E K Nayanar said today that a new polarisation was emerging at the National level with the Congress moving towards the BJP.It was only with the support of the Congress in parliament that the BJP had been able to pass anti-people legislations like the Patent bill and the Insurance sector privatisation bill, Nayanar told newsmen here.If Congress, which had majority in the Rajya Sabha, had opposed the BJP, none of the bills could have been passed. "Even the safeguards proposed by the law commission to the patent bill were ignored", he said.Nayanar accused the Congress for adopting double standards by silently supporting the BJP in Kerala, while at the same time participating in the National Satyagraha against the BJP government in New Delhi on April 18."By indirectly fostering a relationship with the BJP, they had given rise to new polarisation", he said.On Advani's remarks on the recent killings in Kannur, Nayanar said there were two murders recently in which the assailants were BJP supporters and the victims belonged to the CPI-M.The centre had recently called a meeting of government representatives from states that had law and order problems. The states called were Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar and Orissa.Nayanar further cleared his stand, saying that Kerala did not figure in the list, which meant that the law and order situation there was alright.
