Raipur, Oct 10: The first Chief Minister of the new state of Chhattisgarh, to come into existence on November one, would be sworn-in on the night of October 31 here.

The officer on special duty for the new state, P K Mehrotra told reporters here last night that top officials of the Union Home Ministry, Madhya Pradesh Government and concerned departments would meet in New Delhi today to discuss the modalities for the new state.

The distribution of assets and liabilities would be done as per the norms mentioned in the bill for Chhattisgarh state, Mehrotra said.

He said work for the capital project was being carried out with a fund of Rs 12 crore provided by the Madhya Pradesh Government. But the Centre was yet to give even a single paisa for the construction of the capital project, he alleged.

A sum of Rs 50 lakh had been spent on various government offices and the secretariat so far, Mehrotra said.

The Mantralaya for the new state would start functioning from October 25, he said adding that nodal officers would look into necessary requirements and materials needed for the capital.

All departments in Mantralaya would be equipped with computers and every floor would have fax facility, Mehrotra added.
