ROOPNAGAR, Aug 1: The All India Netaji Revolutionary party has resolved to field its president V.P. Saini as candidate for the Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha seat. Disclosing this at a press conference here last evening, V.P. Saini, who is also the chairman of Netaji Research Foundation, said the party will not field any other candidates elsewhere in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections as the party only wants to make its presence felt as of now.

Since Roopnagar city is part of the Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha constituency, Saini has decided to file his nomination papers from there.

Saini made it clear that his party will contest all the elections from next year onwards. “Our desire is not to win this time, we only want to make our presence felt,” he said.

Since Saini was late in getting his party registered with the Election Commission, he will file his nomination as an independent aspirant.

Interestingly, Saini had turned down a request of the Forward Bloc, a party founded by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, to join the party. He cited the left parties’ resolve to support the Congress as the reason for not joining the Forward Bloc and cited the close association of the CPI (M) with the Forward Bloc as reason for his doubts. “Since the CPI (M) leadership is bent upon supporting a Congress led government, we cannot take a chance,” he said.
