Left-arm seamer Ashish Nehra has been ruled out of the two-Test series against New Zealand starting early next month as he has not fully recovered from an ankle injury, Indian team physio Andrew Leipus said here today.
Asked if there is a chance of Nehra — who sustained the injury during the World Cup earlier this year — playing in the one-day tournament, also involving Australia, Leipus said: “Yes, absolutely, that’s the goal at the moment…One day cricket. But not Test matches”.
Due to the injury, Nehra has not played any competitive cricket since the World Cup in South Africa in February-March, where he played a stellar role for India who finished runners-up.
