NEW DELHI, July 15: Neeraj Dhawan, a third Dan Black Belt JKAI and a licenced instructor at Amity International, Noida, will represent India along with three others in the seventh World Shoto Cup Karate Championships to be held in Paris from July 29 to August 2. The other three members of the Indian squad are representatives from Maharashtra, Meghalaya and West Bengal.

Over a 1,000 participants from more than 70 countries are expected to take part in the Paris event. Neeraj will be participating in all four men’s categories individual kata, individual kumata, team kata and team kumite.

Dhawan, 23, won a silver medal at the recent 15th Nationals (JKAI) in Mumbai and is the reigning central India champion in `kata’ and below 65-kg `kumite’ and `team kumite.’ He also won a silver medal at the All India Karate Federation National Championships in Chennai earlier this year.

As a karate instructor at Amity International (Noida) for the last three years, Neeraj Dhawan has produced several Black Belts and Delhi state champions in various age categories, most of them studying from class 7 of the school.

Neeraj leaves for the United Kingdom tomorrow for training with his European counterparts.
