VADODARA, July 25: The National Democratic Alliance would make a clean sweep and may bag more than 370 seats in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, according to Sunil Shastri, BJP’s executive committee member and son of late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.

On a private visit to Vadodara here on Sunday, he told Express Newsline that though he himself and his elder brother Anil had throughout been associated with Congress, he parted ways for according to him only BJP was committed to national interests.

Shastri alleged that another reason for his quitting Congress was the increasing criminalisation in politics which was being promoted by several regional and national parties including Congress. To the question as to why could not he convince his brother about it, he said he did so but it was up to Anil.

Hopeful of getting a party ticket from eastern Uttar Pradesh, Shastri said that he, however, felt hurt on witnessing the contemporary politics in which the national interests were least bothered. “Persons with some credibility, credentials, values and good intentions should come to politics,” he said.

Meanwhile, enthusiasm among the Congress workers, specially after Rashtriya Janata Party’s merger with it, has also increased remarkably, according to State’s former finance minister Babubhai M Shah of RJP. In an informal talk with Express Newsline, he said that he was confident about at least four seats in the Saurashtra region will come to Congress.
