VIJAYAWADA, JUNE 27: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today announced a reward of Rs 25 lakh to those furnishing information regarding persons involved in the bomb blasts on places of worship at various places in the State.

Naidu made the announcement after he visited the mosque at Pothurivarithota in Guntur where a bomb blast occurred last night. He also visited NTR Bus Station where 26 RTC buses were burnt by the unruly mob in protest against the explosion.

Speaking to newsmen later, the chief minister refused to blame any organisation for the series of attacks on minorities. To a specific question whether he suspected the involvement of VHP or RSS in the blast in Guntur, Naidu said nothing could be said without a conclusive evidence or proof.

Expressing concern over yesterday’s incident in a place of worship, he said the explosive device was similar to a material used in the earlier incidents involving churches. The nails, plastic material, wires and battery cells (of 1.5 volts) used in the incidents were of the same type, he said suggesting that the same organisation was involved in all the blasts.

He said peace committees would be formed in the districts for maintenance of communal harmony. Local MPs, MLAs, district collectors, police officials and representatives from various communities would be members of the peace committees.

The regular and visitors to worship places have to form committees and keep a watch on strangers. This would help check such incidents, he said.

Health Minister S Aruna, State Technical Education Minister A Rajendra Prasad, TDP general secretary Lal Jan Pasha and DGP HJ Dora accompanied the Chief Minister.
