
SBJC celebrates silver jubilee
The South Bombay Junior Chamber (SBJC), a part of the Indian Junior Chamber (IJC), is celebrating its silver jubilee this year. The SBJC was established in 1975 by Kishorebai Jhaveri. During the past 25 years, the organisation has been involved in community development and management training programmes.
Parishad honours cordial cop
Head constable Shivaji Deokar attached to the Kherwadi police station was recently felicitated by the Konkan Marathi Sahitya Parishad at Bandra. Deokar, a popular policeman known for maintaining cordial relations with the public, was also recently awarded the Nagrik Mitra award from 864 families of the Middle Income Group (MIG), Bandra East.
Passengers attack taxi driver
Two unidentified persons slashed the neck of a taxi driver early this morning near the Government Press on Netaji Subhash road. Naseem Peer Mohammed was driving the duo at around 1.10 am, when they attacked him from behind with knives, wounding him onhis neck. The assailants then ran away. Mohammed drove the taxi to a police naka nearby and asked for help. A police constable on duty then took him to the Nair hospital where Mohammed has been admitted. A case of attempt to murder has been registered with the D B Marg police, who are clueless about the motive.
