J N Port
The Board of Trustees of Jawaharlal Nehru Port has decided to collect ground rent charges from shipping lines for a period of two months from the date of landing instead of the existing four months. Earlier, the shipping lines had asked for the review of the practice on the grounds that importers are mainly responsible for containers lying unclaimed in the port area. Acting on the requests, the board decided to collect rent only for two months and collect balance charges from the sale proceeds. The board also decided to dispose of the cargo which could not be sold off in three auctions through open tenders.
