One hurt in stone throwing
In the latest episode to the continuing series of stone throwing cases, a 21-year-old commuter Sarika Mhadeshwar was injured by a stone thrown at her from the hutments adjoining the railway tracks between Mahim and Bandra on Monday evening.

According to the GRP, the victim was travelling to Goregaon in the ladies first class compartment at around 7.30 when she was hit on her left leg by the stone. She was treated for the injury at the Bhabha hospital after which a case was registered under Section 152 at the Bandra GRP station.

Chain snatcher nabbed
The Government Railway Police GRP solved a string of seven chain snatching incidents with the arrest of 18-year-old Farida Firoz Shaikh alias Shanno at Byculla station last week.

According to the GRP at CST railway station, seven chains collectively worth over Rs 30,000 were recovered from her. The accused, who lived in the slums near Nagpada, snatched the chains from women in the ladies compartments in asingle week.

VJTI to host Pratibimb
The Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute VJTI will host its annual inter-collegiate youth festival Pratibimb on February 17, 18 and 19. The fest comprises performing art, literary and fine art events and a fashion show. A Technovanza8217; and sports related events will also be held.

Free eye camp at Nalasopara

The Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Janakalyan Trust recently organised a free eye camp at Nalasopara. A unique aspect of the camp was pre-camp registration of patients, done to avoid crowding. Nearly 600 people were attended to by the camp. More than 78 patients were selected for operation, and 500 provided spectacles and medicines.
