Solidarity day by Kalyan docs

MUMBAI, November 22: Doctors in Kalyan and the adjoining areas will observe a Solidarity Day on November 24 to protest the murder of Dr Deepak Shetty and the rise in extortion threats against the medical fraternity. According to the Indian Medical Association (Kalyan), all dispensaries, clinics and hospitals will remain closed, except in cases of dire emergencies, in Kalyan, Dombivli, Bhiwandi, Ulhasnagar, Ambarnath, Badlapur and Shahpur on Tuesday.

Sports meet for the challenged

An inter-school athletic meet for mentally challenged children will be held at Priyadarshini Ground, Napean Sea Road, on December 15. Doctorate in classical music

Dr Geetha Ravikumar has been awarded a doctorate (Sangeet Acharya) in music for her thesis, `The concept and evolution of Raga in Hindustaniand Carnatic Music.’ Dr Geetha is an accomplished singer in both Carnatic and Hindustani styles and is also a musicologist and an instrumentalist (veena). She has given concerts and lecture-demonstrations and conducted workshops in India and abroad.

Meet on safe living in Mumbai

The Consumer and Civic Affairs Committee of the Women Graduates’ Union is organising a symposium `Make Life Safe in Mumbai’ on December 5 at 10.30 am at the Amy Rustomjee Hall, WGU Road, near Colaba bus station.
