
Trilingual cartoon contest
Akshara, a women8217;s resource centre, has organised a trilingual cartoon contest on the occasion of August 6, the anniversary of the Hiroshima bombing. A thought balloon accompanying a cartoon, which can be picked up Akshara, has to be filled out in not more than 10 words expressing one8217;s feelings against nuclear weapons. The cartoon can be picked up from 501, Neelambari, rd no 86, opposite Portuguese Church, Dadar west. The last date for entries is August 10. For details, call Akshara on 4309676.
Medical, dental merit lists
The state government has declared that the merit lists for admissions to medical and dental colleges will be published on August 10. They will be displayed at all government medical colleges. The admission process will begin by the third week of August.
AIFUCTO flays central directive
The All India Federation of University and College Teachers8217; Organisations AIFUCTO has condemned the Union Ministry of Human Resources Developmentfor issuing orders regarding pay scales of university teachers in the country. The organisation claimed that the recommendations have fallen short of UGC directives and has accused the government of refusing to commit itself to funding states for implementation of pay revision.
