Five killed in bus mishap
A Shirdi-bound bus MH-02T-423 belonging to Relic transport plunged headlong into a ravine in Asangaon late Friday killing five passengers and injuring 26. The bus was traversing the curve 50 metres ahead of the road over bridge in Asangaon when the mishap at 1.45 am. Three persons among the dead have been identified as Tarabai Vithal Poojari 16 Sunil T Balu 25 and Manish Rajput 29. The injured are being treated in Thane civil hospital.

Train robbers8217; gang busted
The Kalachowki police has busted a gang of robbers believed to have been targeting commuters travelling on suburban local trains on the harbour line. The three men have been identified as Raju Omprakash Yadav, Vijaykumar Yadav and Raju Paswan. They are employed with a private caterer at Chembur.

According to Inspector Rolfie Periera, the three-member gang were picked up on suspicion during a combing operation near Cotton Green railway station on Friday evening. The trio were in possession of aleather bag, a cell phone and some other valuables, said Periera adding that they failed to offer an explanation on the cell phone. During interrogation, the robbers confessed they had looted hotel employee Saibal Sen, who was travelling on a local between Reay Road and Cotton Green railway station on Friday morning. They beat up other commuters in the compartment before fleeing with the booty, the police added.
