The Mumbai police on Friday night arrested Maulana Ghulam Yahya Ilahi, the imam of Haj House, on charges of harbouring terrorists and conspiring to commit terrorist acts in the city.

Ilahi’s name came up during the interrogation of three Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists arrested from the Nagpada area on January 6. It took two days of questioning to break him down, said Jai Jeet Singh, additional commissioner of police, Anti-Terrorist Squad.

Illahi (44) claims to be from Hawda village in South 24-Parganas in West Bengal, but the police are doubtful of his nationality. They are, however, certain that he knows about the terror network in Mumbai and that he can lead them to at least one more person in the network.
