MARD blood donation
On November 22, the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors MARD had announced that resident doctors would donate their blood. Over 1,500 doctors lined up for the donation, but more than 300 doctors could not donate blood as they were found to be underweight and had less-than-normal haemoglobin, said a press release. Poor food quality, work-related stress and poor living conditions are the reasons for this, claimed the organisation.

Hooch seized at Goregaon
Chemicals worth Rs 5 lakh used to manufacture illicit liquor were seized and destroyed after a raid conducted at Aarey Colony, Goregaon, on Saturday. The raids were conducted under the supervision of State Excise Department Superintendent Ayub Sahib and Ravi Pawar. In the last year, the department has seized hooch and chemicals worth Rs 30 lakh.

Harbour Line disrupted
The Central Railway8217;s Harbour Line services were disrupted for an hour on Tuesday morning following a rail fracture betweenChunabhatti and Kurla stations. The fracture was detected at around 11.15 am and a railway repair squad deployed. The problem was rectified at around 12.30 pm during which time locals ran slower than usual.

Tank blast at Mulund
Two persons were injured following a blast due to the leakage of a safety tank in Mulund early this morning. The injured 8212; Kulwantidevi Gupta 45 and Santok Singh 14 8212; have been admitted to Mulund General Hospital. According to the fire brigade, the incident took place between 12.45 am and 1.15 am near a chawl adjoining a gurudwara at Khindipada, Mulund West. The blast was caused by leakage of gas from a safety tank at the residence of one Harbans Singh. The blast caused cracks in the walls of the adjoining rooms, even toppling one of the walls and destroying the entire Eagle Electric store.
