Cop told to contribute to Kargil fund

A police officer was today directed by the Sessions court to donate Rs 250 towards the Chief Minister Relief Kargil fund as he failed to produce the station diary before the court during the hearing of a 1994 robbery case.Additional Sessions Judge D V Marathe also directed Assistant Police Inspector Ravindra Bhosale now attached to Pydhonie police station to produce the receipt of the amount paid on the next date of hearing.

Judge Marathe was conducting the trial in a 1994 robbery case lodged at Azad Maidan police station in which API Bhosale is the investigating officer. API Bhosale had failed to produce the diary which contains all the relevant facts of the case before the court.

5 kids injured in mishap

Five school children received minor injuries when a truck and an autorickshaw collided at Kherwadi, Bandra E, on the Western Express highway at 7.15 am today. The incident took place to the west of the Kherwadi signal below the flyover. Thechildren, aged between 8 and 11, were residents of Central Railway colony and had boarded a rickshaw for the nearby Cardinal Gracious School when their vehicle collided with an oncoming truck whose brakes had failed.

RBI ex-officer on bank8217;s board

The Bombay High Court today nominated retired RBI officer S S Tarapore as special officer on the board of the Mahanagar Cooperative Bank Ltd, following a public interest litigation alleging malfunctioning and siphoning of funds by the bank8217;s directors. While Tarapore has been directed to go into the bank8217;s functioning and submit a report within two months, the bank8217;s present chairperson, Suman Shelke, her husband and former chairperson, Gulabrao Shelke, and two directors, M K Thorat and L P Kawat have been restrained from functioning in the affairs of the bank.

A copy of the RBI report in the form of a detailed affidavit that was submitted to the court has also been directed to be sent to the Income-Tax Department for suitable action.
