
Canara Bank8217;s suit against ABCL
Bombay High Court has transferred the suit filed by Canara Bank for recovery of Rs 10 crore loaned to Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd ABCL, to the Debt Recovery Tribunal for Maharashtra and Goa here. The tribunal, presided over by Vijay Singh Deshmukh, was set up on July 17 here under Recovery of Debts due to Banks and Financial Institutions Act, 1993.
All civil suits for recovery of debts amounting to over Rs 10 lakh pending in high court and various other district courts would in due course be transferred to the tribunal.
In its suit against ABCL, Canara Bank would soon move the tribunal for further orders which would include attachment of properties, said counsel Nishit Dhruva.

Robbery foiled at Tilak Nagar
Police foiled a robbery attempt by arresting four persons and seizing their weapons at Tilak Nagar in North-east Mumbai today. Acting on a tip off, police laid a trap and nabbed four of the seven culprits who wereplanning to commit a robbery. Swords, choppers, and sharp knives were also seized from the four, police said. Meanwhile, a hunt is on for the three absconding culprits.

Vajpayee to visit Mumbai
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee will arrive in Maharashtra tomorrow for the last leg of his campaign for the second phase of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections to be held on September 11. The PM will arrive at Jalna and address a public meeting at 2:00 pm. Later, at 6:00 pm, he will address a Shiv Sena-BJP rally at Shivaji Park, Dadar, along with Sena chief Bal Thackeray, Chief Minister Narayan Rane and Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde. On the penultimate day of campaigning, September 9, Vajpayee will address a public meeting at Chandgaon in Malegaon at 1100 hrs, BJP sources said.
