PSI held for taking bribe
A sub-inspector with the CST railway police and an associate were arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 on Monday.Police said one Sunil introduced Vikas Pradhan, main accused in the VIP railway pass scam, to Ajay, the complainant, at the MLAs8217; hostel as the personal assistant of the vice-president of India at a recent meeting. Vikas told Ajay he had access to VVIP passes and handed a free pass to Ajay.
Pharmaceutical co owner shot at
Fourunidentified persons broke into Messrs Hab Pharmaceuticals Research Ltd at Gurukrupa Building, Kalbadevi, at around 5.30 pm today, and shot at the owner, Sanjay Garg 31. His servant Rajesh Salunke was also injured. The miscreants entered the pharmaceutical unit with choppers and a revolver and demanded Rs 5 lakh. Garg managed to pay Rs 10,000. The assailants fired one round at him and stabbed his servant with a chopper. Garg has been admitted to Bombay Hospital.
Chargesheet filed against Sheregar
The Economic Offences Wing of the Mumbai police today filed a chargesheet against former BEST employee Ashok Sheregar and 60 others who allegedly duped members of the public of Rs 18.6 crore in 1997.
The chargesheet was filed before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate AAA Kidwai at the 37th Esplanade Court.
