Film festival postponed

The international film festival scheduled to be held in Mumbai from November 24-30 has been postponed due to lack of funds. Organised by Mumbai Academy of Moving Images MAMI, the festival made its debut last year. MAMI8217;s programme director Sudhir Nandgaonkar said: 8220;We had been meeting private sponsors who backed out due to recession. But talks are on and the managing committee will meet to decide if the festival will be delayed to next November or postponed for a few months.8221;

Housewife murdered

A housewife was murdered in her Santacruz home by her husband8217;s friend on Saturday. Lalan Sharma 34 left for work at 11.30 am, leaving his wife Girlali 32 and four-and-half-year son Girish behind. When he called home at 5.30 pm, his son told him that Girlali had been killed. Lalan rushed home to find his wife lying in the kitchen with stab wounds on her neck and right hand. After speaking to Girish, the police nabbed Lalan8217;s friend Pramod Yodmat Yadav and recovered apair of earrings and jewellery, valued at Rs 1,200.
