Flat owners flay Centre

  • The Flat Owners8217; Association FOA has reacted sharply to the BJP-led Union government8217;s proposal to repeal the Urban Land Ceiling and Regulation Act ULCRA of 1976 and said that in the long run the prices of real estate will zoom.
  • Secretary of the association Mahabaleshwar N Morje said instead of scrapping the act wholly, the government should study it and make necessary amendments and increase the limit of ceiling. 8220;Everybody agrees the object and purpose of ULCRA is good, but it8217;s not properly implemented. Scrapping is not a solution,8221; he said.

    Drugs worth Rs 4 crore seized

  • The anti-narcotics cell of city police has seized charas and brown sugar from three persons valued at Rs four crore in international market. Police sources said the sleuths of anti-narcotics cell acting on a tip-off raided a premises and seized 1.5 kgs of brown sugar valued at Rs 3 crore in Indian market and 1.5 kgs charas valued at Rs 20,000 in domestic market. The narcoticsis valued at over Rs 4 crore.
  • Jewellery looted

  • A gang of four persons looted a jewellery shop of ornaments worth Rs 12 lakh at Sector 14 Vashi, New Mumbai today. Police Commissioner Sudhakar Ambedkar said the gangsters armed with choppers came in Maruti-800 car, raided the shop around 4.30 pm and fled.
