VADODARA, Aug 20: Three students of the Faculty of Science manhandled Dean Bonny Pilo today and ransacked his cabin, demanding an explanation for the alleged inclusion in an examination of questions on topics not covered in class.
The students went on a rampage, throwing his chair and breaking the glass on his table in the afternoon, after the dean refused to answer their queries and tried to walk out of his room. They were later detained by the Sayajigunj police on Pilo8217;s complaint.
8220;The students barged into the room and started threatening and abusing me. They demanded explanation on the pattern of the question paper set by the faculty authorities,8221; said Pilo. 8220;They probably hadn8217;t even appeared for the examinations.8221;
According to the Dean, the questions were set from the syllabus and despite all the allegations, had been covered by teachers.
Pilo was confident that this incident would not go unacknowledged by the university authorities as the students had been identified.
This is the third faculty of the Maharaja Sayajirao U niversity to fall victim to the wrath of student union leaders. Earlier, it was the faculty of Commerce, then the focus shifted to Arts and the concentration now seems to be on the Faculty of Science.
