NEW DELHI, June 20: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership is likely to initiate disciplinary proceedings against its Lok Sabha MP Gangacharan Rajput for attending today’s meeting of the OBC MPs Forum.
The meeting, convened by Rajput despite stern warnings from the party leadership, was to take stock of the forthcoming presidential and vice presidential polls and bid for an OBC candidate for the latter.
BJP OBC MPs were asked by the party to stay away from the meet. And they did except Rajput, giving rise to speculation that the recalcitrant MP may be pushing for expulsion from a party, in which he has been feeling decidedly uneasy.
A senior party leader said that the OBC Forum should not be used to take political decisions such as laying down conditions for the presidential polls. He pointed out that there are proper fora for such decisions.
