More 145;Mushisms146; than Bushisms

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf seems to have engineered another bloodless coup...

.

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf seems to have engineered another bloodless coup, overthrowing his US counterpart George W Bush to become a permanent fixture at one of the largest and funniest spoof news websites.

The latest event in Pakistan8217;s unending political drama to be up on the website is the country8217;s suspension from the Commonwealth last week, which Islamabad had described as 8220;unjustified and unreasonable8221;.

8220;What is the matter with these Commonwealth guys, why can they not trust me when I say maybe I will take off my uniform in a few days; I might remove the emergency after the elections, within a few days I intend to free the judges, lawyers, human rights activists, that I am the only true democrat in all of Pakistan,8221; said one satirical post at thespoof.com.

Another spoof news report read: 8220;The Army General-turned-President-turned-chief-of-staff-turned-President and soon to become civilian Musharraf, once again sought legitimacy for his emergency.8221;

The President8217;s one-time bete noir, former premier Benazir Bhutto, comes a close second when it comes to making spoof headlines. The latest spoof news report on Bhutto announces that the Hermes fashion house, whose scarves Bhutto often flaunts, has signed a 8220;multi-million dollar contract with wannabe third-time Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto8221;.

8220;In this new role, Ms Bhutto 8212; in a tribute to her home province 8212; will put out her own line of 8216;skincare for my wrinkled Sindhi sisters8217;,8221; the report said.

As for Bhutto, the news report said she was 8220;ecstatic with this deal that had been engineered by the White House and No 10 Downing Street8221;.

The Spoof also put out a satirical news-item on the much-awaited TV show Pakistan Idol.

8220;General Pervez Musharraf appeared on prime-time TV yesterday and admitted that he had fired the entire 8216;Pakistani Idol8217; panel of judges. Insisting that a 8220;rigged vote threatens national security8221;, Musharraf maintained that he had no option but to declare a musical emergency; otherwise 8216;extremists and bad people8217; would have taken over.8221;

8220;A new panel of tone-deaf judges will declare him the winner in three months after which the emergency will be lifted,8221; the report said.

Just like Bush8217;s widely reported one-liners or 8220;Bushisms8221;, Musharraf too has 8220;Mushisms8221; on several websites. Here is a list posted by a senior Pakistani journalist:
