The charge of molestation brought by two women in Nandigram against DIG CRPF Alok Raj on the eve of the first phase of the May 11 panchayat polls has been found to be without basis, West Bengal government said.The accusation of molestation of a woman CRPF constable by the state's Rapid Action Force at Nandigram on the day of polling, was also unfounded, Home Secretary Asok Mohan Chakraborty said.Referring to the report of the IGP (Western Range) Rakesh Gupta to the state government, who probed both the allegations, Chakraborty said, "neither of the charges has been proved in the probe as there is no evidence either on the charge or counter-charge of molestation in Nandigram.""Surprisingly, it has become a trend now to bring in charges and counter-charges of molestation on any issue. This is very unfortunate," Chakraborty said.The two women of Sonachura village in Nandigram had accused the CRPF DIG of molesting them on the night before the election.A CRPF lady constable, Dimple Sharma, had alleged she was beaten up and molested by the RAF at Adhikaripara.
