UTRECHT, May 19: India made the two expected omissions, of centre-forward Rajiv Misra and half-back Sukhbir Singh Gill, while finalising the list of 16 which was submitted to the tournament committee here on Tuesday, less than 24 hours before the start of the ninth World Cup hockey for men. Both players, however, will remain in Utrecht as spectators. With the Indian camp being virtually inaccessible at their faraway holiday resort and even the Manager, Ajit Pal Singh unavailable on his cell phone, given to him by the organisers, there were no explanations available from any of the team officials about the changes.SQUAD:Goalkeepers: Jagadish Ponnappa and Jude Menezes.Full-backs: Anil Aldrin, Dilip Tirkey and Lazarus Barla.Half-backs: Baljit Singh Saini, Md Riaz, Ramandeep Singh and Thirumal Valavan.Forwards: Mukesh Kumar, Sabu Varkey, Dhanraj Pillay (captain), Harbajan Singh, Rajesh Chauhan and Devinder Kumar.CHANGES IN PAK, AUSSIE TEAMS: Meanwhile,Pakistan dropped Md Sarwar and included Rahim Khan in his place.
