It8217;s a gang that operates from Madhya Pradesh, uses minor children and is specifically involved in committing thefts at wedding venues and functions taking place in big and prosperous cities like Panchkula, Chandigarh, Delhi, Amritsar, Bathinda and Kolkata. The list of places where the gang has so far targeted is long, according to the Panchkula police.

The police claimed that the woman allegedly involved in two major thefts at wedding parties at Shiraz Hotel in Sector 10 was part of this gang.

Two minor children were arrested by the police recently in connection with a theft of Rs 10 lakh at a wedding venue. After the two told the police that they had given the cash to their mother Wobhe, she was arrested. 8220;During investigation, we discovered that the woman was in fact not the actual mother of the minors. A special team was then sent to their native place in Rajgarh district of MP along with the accused. It came to light that a gang is operating from there and its members use their own children to commit thefts,8221; said CIA in-charge Inspector Kulbhushan.

He added: 8220;The children in the age group of eight to 12 years are sent to various big cities along with adult members of the gang. The entire cost of staying, clothing and food is borne by the head of the gang. The booty is sent back to the children8217;s parents who in turn give a certain percentage of it to these 8216;helpers8217;. Wobhe was also one of the members of the gang and was sent to the city with two small children, an eight-year-old girl and a ten-year-old boy.8221;

Investigations also revealed that around 12 such members of the gang were in Panchkula at present to commit thefts. 8220;Wobhe has given us the names of all of them. While the names cannot be disclosed right now, warrants have been issued against them and they will be arrested soon,8221; said Kulbhushan.

Sources said the same gang was involved in similar thefts at Taj Hotel in Chandigarh and the residence of the owners of Talwar Jewellers.

Wobhe was sent to judicial custody after her eight days8217; police remand got over on December 12. 8220;We are now coordinating with the police of other cities so that the entire gang could be busted,8221; added the CIA in-charge.
