MindFest puts management students’ mettle to test

The Management Department of GGN Institute of Vocational Studies organised “MindFest,” an inter-departmental quiz competition, on the college campus yesterday.

The Management Department of GGN Institute of Vocational Studies organised “MindFest,” an inter-departmental quiz competition, on the college campus yesterday. MindFest was designed to give management students a unique platform to hone their skills and weigh their academic knowledge to compete with the best in the field.

Students were given situations and challenges wherein they were to assume themselves as an effective manager and troubleshooter. The quiz had three rounds each of management and entertainment. The teams were named on the management experts like Taylor, Fayol, Simon, Drucker and Mayo. The quiz was convened by Jasmine Kaur of MBA-III. “A few minutes in the quiz opened our eyes for not knowing plain answers and induced a sense to improve the results,” said Amanpreet Singh.

Team Taylor won the first prize that included MBA students Ramandeep and Vandana and BBA students Gaurav and Jagdeep. The second prize went to Team Simon comprising Shikha and Jatinderpal of MBA and Deepak and Prabhul from BBA. Amanpreet, Jyoti, Prashant and Abhishek of Team Drucker got the third prize.

“Effective management is a combination of acquired skills and experience that guarantees continued success,” director of the college, Kuldip Singh, said while giving away the prizes. A group discussion on Global Financial Crisis was also organised.

GGNIVS coordinator, Manjit Singh Chhabra said, “The quiz helped in determining training needs, stimulating brainpower and identifying areas for growth.”
