NEW DELHI, January 1: Flight and train movement was affected again today because of poor visibility caused by the fog. However, officials of the department predicted that the fog would be less dense and of shorter duration in the coming days as the moisture content in the air was decreasing.
Officials of the Met department said that the moisture had decreased to 50 per cent in the evening today as compared to 80 per cent yesterday because of winds blowing at 10 kmph.
However, airport authorities said that the situation was as bad as yesterday. Fog forced the closure of the airport at around 10 pm last night and operations began only after 11 am today. Officials said that though there was delay in arrival and departure of flights, especially in the morning hours, there were no reports of cancellation of any flights.
Northern Railway spokesperson Chandralekha Mukherjee said that four trains — Poorva Express, Howrah Rajdhani, Mahamaya Express and Goa Express — had been rescheduled.
