NASHIK, Aug 17: Police have arrested thirteen more persons for their alleged involvement in an inter-state counterfeit currency racket and recovered fake notes to the tune of Rs 90 lakh.
District Superintendent of Police (rural), Himanshu Roy told reporters here last night that the Nashik police, with the co-operation of the Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh police, nabbed the accused in Karnataka. Some papers and other materials, used for making the fake notes of Rs 50 denomination were also recovered, he said. So far 20 persons have been arrested in this connection and they would be transferred to Hindpur police in Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday for interrogation. Police had earlier arrested Bidar Municipal Council member Marcus Upadhye, former Bidar Zilla Parishad president and Janata Dal leader Prakash Ghaleppa Kalekar, Ramkrishna Babu (35), Ravindrachari Vyankat Subbachari (32), film actress Parvati alias Paro, C K Chandrakumar (26), Ramesh Ishwar Mulgee (20), T Gundappa Sahebanna Talpallikar (35) and Y Nagraj Gupta (45) and recovered from them counterfeit notes worth Rs 1.5 crore.
