RAIPUR, NOV 11: Senior Congress leader and former Union minister Vidhya Charan Shukla today clarified that his meeting with former BJP president Kushabhau Thakre in New Delhi was nothing but courtesy call and had nothing to do with politics.

Political observers had said that the meeting assumed significance given the challenge Congress leader Sonia Gandhi is facing in elections to the party president’s post and the fact that Shukla was upset at Ajit Jogi being made Chhattisgarh Chief Minister.

In his damage-control exercise, Shukla today reiterated his support for Sonia Gandhi.
