Alleging that the bill on Indo-US nuclear deal introduced in the US Congress runs counter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh8217;s assertions in Parliament on elements of reciprocity and autonomy in the agreement, BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi has asked him to take the nation into confidence on the issue. Joshi has written a letter to the PM. The BJP leader said, 8216;8216;The voluntary moratorium on nuclear explosions by India should in no case be converted into permanent and irrevocable moratorium by the US legislation. All provisions which are discriminatory should be rejected.8217;8217;

8216;8216;Today the world recognises us as a responsible power and if we agree to these provisions, our conduct will be determined by the US President.8217;8217;

Pointing out that the bill8212;Waiver Authority Bill WAB8212;authorisies the US President to waive certain provisions of the US Atomic Energy Act with regard to Inida, he said, 8216;8216;The waiver route should be rejected. The US should repeal or amend the provisions of their domestic law by repealing certain clauses.8217;8217;

Fearing that India would be precluded from conducting any nuke test, he said any violation of this ban would lead to the cessation of the fuel supply. And the violation will be decided by the US President.
