CHANDIGARH, Aug 11: Before their impressive improvisation began, Maya Krishna Rao, the renowned theatre personality, made a very relevant remark, "Acting is a life-long journey". The young boys and girls proved through their measured movements and well-thought expressions that they are on the right path, provided they get the right guidance. And that is a rarity in Chandigarh.
So the 10-day-long workshop that Maya conducted for the theatre enthusiasts of the city and surrounding areas provided a chance for them to explore their inner realms. The short and crisp sequences that they put up at the Government Museum this evening were a delight to absorb indeed, despite the humidity and stuffy air in the museum hall. The bright bunch, half of them products of the Department of Indian Theatre, with five "naqqals" belonging to Neelam Man Singh’s "The Company", commenced with movements. The piece was a fine illustration of synchronised motion.
Since it was part of the ongoing Freedom 50 Festival, Maya chose the theme of Partition and was able touch the nerve of the viewer with powerful delineations. The group, through different angles to the traumatic incidents of Partition, made the audience sit glued to their presentations. Maya deserves all the credit for digging out the real talents among theyoung aspirants and moulding them.
