For a party that has just about embarked on a return to 8216;8216;basics8217;8217;, nothing short of a start from bare essentials would do. It is, therefore, appropriate that party strongman L.K. Advani has a room to himself before he gets down to business.

The room occupied by general secretary Pramod Mahajan has been done up quickly to enable Advani to sit regularly at the party8217;s 11 Ashok Road headquarters. Sources said Advani is likely to visit the headquarters at least two days a week.

Mahajan, after being displaced from his room, has displaced general secretary Sanjay Joshi, who, in turn, has displaced the treasurer. Sukumar Nambiar, who is the new man in charge of the party8217;s kitty, will occupy the room currently belonging to the Yuva Morcha chief who has been moved to a tiny cabin.

General secretary Rajnath Singh has reclaimed the room he once occupied while in the same post. Its current occupant Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has set his sight on the Sahyog Nidhi office. The media set-up will be relocated at the HQ poll control room.

Vice-president Bal Apte, tipped for important assignments, will move into the room earlier belonging to Anita Arya. Sudheendra Kulkarni, secretary to Naidu, will have an office too.

Next in line 8212; a cleansing operation. A few staff members, sources say, face the party axe for reasons it knows best.
