The seven-hour-long demolition was carried out with the help of over 50 labourers, civic supervisory staff and full police bandobast. 8220;For their vested interests, the encroachers had built a solid 100 square metre platform on iron girders towards the end of Mota Market, which totally cut off the public freeway,8221; siad the A8217; ward officer, Rajendra Kumar Vale.

In the past BMC8217;s attempt to remove the blockage was scuttled with the encroachers petitioning the high court to obtain a stay. 8220;However, the Bombay High Court dismissed the case, making the long overdue demolition possible,8221; said Vale.
