MUMBAI, JUNE 6: Prime Minister’s political advisor Pramod Mahajan was prominent among those who filed their nomination papers today for the June 18 biennial polls to the Rajya Sabha. Accompanied by Energy Minister P Kumarmangalam and Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde Mahajan arrived at the Council Hall to submit his nomination papers on the last day. Besides Mahajan, among the nine candidates for six seats, who have filed their nomination papers are Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairperson Nejma Heptullah, Ram Pradhan (Congress), Satish Pradhan, Pritish Nandi (Shiv Sena), former Union Minister Suresh Kalmadi and Vijay Darda (both independents).
For the 10 seats of the Legislative Council, the Shiv Sena has nominated Transport Minister Diwakar Raote, Kanhaiyalal Gidwani, Vijay Vadettiwar, while the BJP has fielded N S Pharande, Bhai Girkar and Pratapsinh Mohite Patil. Congress has nominated Ranjeet Deshmukh and Vasant Chavan, while it has supported RPI nominee Makhram Pawar.
