NEW DELHI, Nov 8: Deposed national cricket coach Madan Lal today dared his detractors to prove that he gave less than 100 per cent while guiding the Indian team.
Reacting to Board secretary Jayant Lele’s comment that the former Test all-rounder was not motivating the team enough, Madan Lal said he had always given more than cent per cent to the job and “everybody knows that”.
Lele’s statement, he told, was adding insult to the injury the board had caused him by announcing his sacking even without extending the courtesy of informing him. Lal refused to speculate on the reasons for his ouster. The exit, rather the manner of it, may have left a bad taste in his mouth.
