French champions Lyon took another step towards their dream of winning European club football’s most coveted prize with a precious 2-1 win over Greek side Olympiakos in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Lyon join Bayern Munich and Arsenal as the only unbeaten teams with 100 percent records in the group stages so far.

AC Milan beat Fenerbahce 3-1 at the San Siro, however the Italians — who won the trophy in 2003 — lead a tight group F with only a point on the Turkish side.

It leaves Lyon, Bayern and Arsenal with a fine chance of securing qualification for the last 16 with room to spare – a huge advantage in a competition in which fatigue and overplay can play havoc with ambitions.

Real Madrid moved up to second place on six points but were trailing 0-1 to Norwegian outsiders Rosenborg Trondheim in the second half before running out 4-1 winners.

English defender Jonathan Woodgate, scorer of two own goals this season, got the equaliser, Raul extended his European Cup scoring record to 51 and further strikes from Ivan Helguera and David Beckham turned victory into a rout.
