Liquor dealer shot dead for defying ultras

Militants today killed a liquor dealer outside his office at Solina in uptown Srinagar, police said. Abdul Hamid Sheikh was shot at from point-blank range. Police said he had been warned by militant groups against selling liquor.

His outlet was opened in the nineties and was the first defying the diktat. Another shop where liquor is sold openly is at the highly-sansitised Sonawar neighbouring the cantonment area of Badamibagh.
