President8217;s rule in Nagaland seems to have forced a rethink on a security review that was scheduled for January 16. The meeting convened by the Union Home Ministry was to have been attended by home secretaries and other senior officials of the north-eastern states. What seems to have set officials thinking about the wisdom of going ahead with the meeting8212;the first of its kind8212;was the venue, Dimapur. The thinking is that holding a security review in Nagaland may not be the best of ideas when the state is under President8217;s rule. Political parties opposed to Central rule could have got an issue to go to town on. The meeting was promptly postponed. There is no word on a fresh date for the meeting.
