NEW DELHI, MARCH 10: Leaders of striking city lawyers on Friday decided to sit on a relay hunger strike from February 13 to press for suspension of three police officers and setting up of a commission to inquire into the lathicharge on them last month during a procession.Members of executive committee of Bar Council of Delhi (BCI), Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHBCA) and the Bar associations of three district courts here have decided that their presidents would sit on a relay hunger strike, DHBCA president A S Chandhiok said.The lawyers are demanding suspension of New Delhi district DCP Pranab Nanda and ACPs, H S Bhalla and Ashok Mallik, for alleged lathicharge on them on February 24 when they took out a procession to Parliament House, in protest against the amendments to Civil Procedure Code (CPC) and proposed amendments to the Advocates Act.Normal functioning of the High Court and subordinate courts continued to suffer as lawyers abstained from work with their strike entering the sixteenth day on Friday.
