COLOMBO, Jan 20: An officer and nine soldiers of an army camp in Sri Lanka’s northern peninsula have been taken into custody for their suspected involvement in the murder of two civilians, the defence ministry has said. They were taken into custody after investigation by the military police following information about the two missing men, a defence ministry release said.

It identified the victims as S Saundarajan(21) and S Jayaseean (24) who were arrested on November 28 by troops manning a road block at the Vadarawattai near Achechuveli. They were taken to the Vadarawattai army camp for questioning. Both civilian suspects had died while being interrogated,the release said.
