KURALI, JULY 25: There is good news for the girl students of the town. They now have an alternative to going out of town to attend college. Admissions are on at the Balwant Rai DAV College for Women the first college of the city.

The college, which was recently inaugurated by Swami Nadiparwale, has begun with two streams — humanities and commerce.

Besides graduation, post-graduate courses have also been started in the college in subjects like Political Science, Public Administration, Hindi, Punjabi and Sociology.

According to R.S. Bedi, principal of the college, "The admissions to the college will go on till August 20. “We believe that with the town getting its first college, the stress on local students who have to go out everyday to attend classes will become less." The college has a faculty of nine with majority of lecturers having graduated from Panjab University, he added.
